Mark your calendars (Sunday 19th April at 2.30 p.m.) for the 16th annual “Choirs in Concert” charity fund raiser for special needs people in the Cowichan Valley. The Brentwood College T. Gil Bunch Centre for the Performing Arts will again host this two-hour choral extravaganza which will leave you with a glow in your heart.
This year's lineup features six choirs from the island and beyond, each uniquely diverse in styles, including: Brentwood College Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Brentwood College Concert Choir, Ensemble Laude, British Columbia Fiddle Orchestra, Eric Dozier and the One Human Family Gospel Choir and the Greater Victoria Police Chorus.
Tickets are $12 or $14 at the door, and all proceeds helps fund a music therapy program for special needs children and adults in the Cowichan Valley, as well as educational bursaries for special needs graduates from the four Cowichan Valley high schools. The event is produced each year by Head of Music Phil Newns. MC for the 2009 show will be Brentwood Grade 12 student Sloan Dickey.
