Canadian Geography Awards

30 January 2021
Mr Brian Carr
For the past 26 years the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and the Alex Trebek Foundation have hosted the Canadian Geographic Challenge for elementary and high school students. More than 500 schools across Canada now participate in this competition focusing on geographic literacy skills and new technology. This year the entire junior school and my three senior geography classes participated in the Level 2 competition of 50 multiple choice questions ranging from Sustainable Development Goals to Natural Resources and Industries. Here are the Brentwood winners:
Grade 8: Addison VO
Grade 9: Jonathan W
Grade 10: Oscar L
Senior Geography: Eesha T
The 2021 Canadian Geography School Champion who will now go on to the next level to compete and represent Brentwood against the Level 2 school champions across Canada is the pride of Ellis House, Oscar L.
Finally, the senior geography and geology classes will be competing in the level three competition in late February. If you are a Canadian between the ages of 16 and 19 and you are interested in geography, please see me to sign up.
