Campus Life - December
Having had the distinct pleasure of enjoying a wonderful Thanksgiving meal in honour of our American families, followed by another superb Concert for a Winter’s Eve, I am reminded about how fortunate we are to “work” in this environment we call Brentwood. I put “work” in quotations because, while we all need to pay attention to the daily demands we face at the school, the satisfaction we can see and feel when our students achieve something that reflects on them in a positive light is deeply satisfying: there are few experiences that can top it.
I can compare it to winning the “lottery of life” for educators. To see our students take an opportunity and, most significantly, take the chance to push themselves out of their comfort zone is truly a gift. And we can see it on the faces of our students every day.
In a world where “value added” has become an expectation, I can say the opposite is true at our school - our students add value to themselves, their peers, and the greater world. For those of us who live, teach, and learn at Brentwood, we are fortunate to have the best seat in the house!
