Wow, what a weekend. 18 clubs and schools from Canada and the United States came to our campus for three days to compete in Brentwood’s 50th Regatta. This regatta is a qualifier for Brentwood boats going to CSSRA Nationals in June and our crews displayed immense grit and joy - which was reflected in their finishes. Commenting on their success was Rowing Captain, Lauren C, Allard ‘22: “It was a wonderful weekend full of speed and hard work. It was amazing for most students to finally experience a Brentwood Regatta!”

There were over 120 races this weekend, and below are some highlights of the results from all of the Brentwood crews. Congratulations to all of the rowers!

Rowing coach Matthew Ward was very pleased with his crew’s performances during the regatta. Despite the strong results, he humbly said, “It’s not really about the result but about the long-term goal and the kids have really bought into that. Our finishes are a product of the system and training we have created for them. I’m super proud of their hard work and this is a great platform to build off of for future regattas.”

Of special note is the success of four Junior Lwt Boys (and their coxies - Cassidy, Nicolas & Cole) who captured three Gold medals and a Silver: Peter D, Paolo R, Nathan C & Felix D will all need to expand their trophy cases! Very Well Done!

So much hard work went into making this weekend possible and there are many well-deserved thank yous to be given out, so look out for Will’s article expressing our gratitude for everyone involved. Congratulations again to everyone who participated in this year’s regatta and we can’t wait to see the races at nationals!
