Brentwood, University of Washington, and Beyond!

5 March 2008

Brentwood recently hosted the University of Washington Varsity men's rowing crew for dinner after their training camp with the Canadian national team.  There is a long, storied tradition of Brentwood rowers being recruited by the University of Washington, many of whom then go on to compete for their country (both Canada and the USA).  On the U.W. Husky crew website, the following tag line (referring to the picture attached) was reported about two University of Washington and Brentwood alumni:
Brian Carr (UW '84 - "Mighty Oar of '84"), Brentwood Head Coach, with Washington freshman (and Brentwood grad) Noah O'Connell.  Carr, recently named the Junior North American Rowing Coach of the Year (1st Canadian to win it), said this about the weekend: "Tell any Husky that if they want their kid to go to a first class school to come to Brentwood. There were four Huskies in that Canadian boat. There are six old Brentwood grads trying out for the Olympic team. Hopefully we will continue that trend into the future... Off to training and to find that next future Olympian!"
