Brentwood Students get a Lesson in Hip Hop

Brentwood’s Fine Arts department received a visit yesterday from Mr. Jonny Dupre, a Hip hop instructor from San Diego. The students were amazed to find out that Jonny has danced with artists such as Usher, MC Hammer and the like! He taught the students co-ordination exercises as well as the fundamental stance positions for hip-hop dance. Each group was also taught a small section of choreography including: Funk Styles (Poppin' / Lockin'), Free Styles (Breakin' / House), Hip Hop Styles (Flow, Isolation, Gangsta), and Stomp / Step Dancing. They left the studio exhausted and beaming! Brentwood will invite Jonny back to campus in the fall as he agreed to choreograph a group piece for us to perform in our 2011 performance season.
