One of our local Mill Bay and Brentwood students, Tanu Huff, went on a very special mission to Jinja, Uganda this past August.  Accompanied by his mother, he set out to help with medical work and ended up changing the life of a local young man, named Henry Wanjala, by helping him raise funds for post secondary education.  This story was published by Sarah Simpson in the Cowichan Valley Citizen. Tanu's fundraising did not stop there.  There was a charity dance held on March 27th after Charity Work Day to help raise additional funds.  Students were charged $5 to attend and many brought donations in addition to the door charge.  The dance and donations raised over $2,500 and was a big success! This was also our first event in the McNeill Student Centre.  Deejays included Tanu Huff, Trevor M., Aron S., and Shuan B. This high energy music was mixed with some African Beat music and students were encouraged to dress in African garb. This is a very worthy cause and we are very proud of Tanu and his accomplishments!
