At this year’s 12th Annual Ross Cup, which was named after our former Head of School Mr. Bill Ross,  Brentwood’s Junior and Senior teams both earned silver medals. Both played extremely hard in the preliminary round robin to reach Saturday’s finals. The juniors played and inspiring game on Thursday evening defeating last year’s winner Quamichan of Duncan by a score of 3 to 0. They also played extremely well in the championship game, but fell 6-2 to Chemainus.

The senior team played well in the preliminary round with a record of 1 – 1 – 1. In the semi final they took on Point Grey of Vancouver and with a never-say-die attitude scored late in the final period to win 2 to 1.  In the championship game vs. Lord Tweedsmuir of Surrey BC, the teams were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation time. This forced the game into five minutes of three on three overtime play, which ended scoreless. The game could not have been any more exciting. The game was then determined by a shoot out. The coaches of both teams choose three players from their team for the exciting finale. Brentwood’s coach Mr. Flynn entered Captain Gavin S, Assistant James L, and veteran Cam V with Jack K between the pipes.  Unfortunately, the boys came up short in the shootout.

The support from the students, both as volunteers and fans, was amazing and everybody is looking forward to next year’s Ross Cup Tournament.
