Meghan Grant, ‘12, Jenn L ‘14, Carolina M ‘14, Georgia W ‘13, Mike Greenwood, ’12 and Jon Courville, ‘12 all competed in the Provincial Regional Rugby Championships from July 6-8 in Vancouver.

Mike played very well for the Vancouver Island South team, winning a silver medal in the competition. He showed his versatility, playing both scrum half and wing. Jon played for the Vancouver Island North squad. His team came 5th in the seven team competition. Both Mike and Jon played for Brentwood’s provincial championship Senior Boys team this year.

Meghan, Jenn, Carolina and Georgia, all members of Brentwood’s provincial silver medal Girls team this year, were selected to the Vancouver Island Tsunami team. The women’s tournament had five highly competitive teams. The Tsunami defeated Vancouver, Fraser Valley “B” and an impressive Interior team to make the final. They then faced the very powerful Fraser Valley “A” squad in the final and, although they put up a solid defensive effort, the Valley were simply better on the day, defeating the Tsunami 20-0.

Nonetheless, all four of the Brentwood players made a significant contribution to the team and Jenn L was invited to the provincial team camp, an exceptional achievement for a Grade 10 student. Coincidentally, Jenn is also the author of the Kit Lit blog that you will find on the website.

The Tsunami team was led by Brentwood faculty members and provincial silver medal Girls Rugby coaches Marius Felix and Steve Cowie.
