Brentwood Regatta 2009

29 April 2009
The regatta was held from Friday, April 24th through Sunday, April 26th, 2009. It was great to once again see so many alumni return to Brentwood to enjoy the annual Brentwood Regatta. 1,600 athletes and thousands of spectators were on campus to enjoy the excitement of competition, the races, the food kiosks, the live entertainment, and the festive atmosphere.  In addition, alumni took part in some other social events over the weekend. On Saturday, April 25th at 2:00pm, surrounded by Old Brentonians, current students, faculty and parents, John Queen christened the new lightweight shell named in his honour.  Tammie (Morrison) Toriglia (Class of 1979) christened the new girls' shell and Adam Gray (Class of 1992) christened a shell in his name. The Regatta festivities continued with an informal Afternoon Reception in the foyer of the Bunch Centre for all members of the Brentwood community who attended the regatta. Finally, Saturday evening at Arbutus Ridge, Old Brentonian rowers and their parents gathered with current parents and friends of the school for a Regatta Dinner.  It was great occasion for Old Brentonians to gather as a group, to connect with old friends as well as to mingle with others whose lives were also impacted by Brentwood.
