On Wednesday, May 15th five members of the Golf Team represented Brentwood at the Island Championships. Austin N, Tom W, Frank Z, Robert L & Renee B were chosen.

“The conditions were great: low winds and sunny,” said Tom W. “We expected that if we all played perfectly we could make it to Provincials, but we mainly went for the experience. It was a good day to hang out and have fun.”

“It was a team effort” explained Austin N. “We all played as individuals but it was each team’s combined score that placed us. We had stiff competition. Many of the teams were quite advanced and had great players.”

Brentwood’s team came in a surprising 4th place out of the six teams: they followed behind Condor (Gold), Shawinigan Lake (Silver), and Chemainus (Bronze). “This usually wouldn’t be enough to put us into provincials, but one of the teams scratched, and we were runners up so we were able to squeeze in” clarified Tom W. “We were just able to make it.”

“Overall, it was a good competition and it was a great experience,” Robert L says, “We played well and fortunately made it to provincials.” Brentwood will compete in Golf Provincials on the 28th to the 30th of May at Arbutus Ridge.
