Brentwood juniors talk a great game

Wednesday, January 12 was another winning day for the Brentwood debaters who participated in Shawnigan’s Bruce Lockhart Invitational, an impromptu tournament that yielded some impressive results. Although one of our own, the pseudonymous Jacques Marschal* acting as a judge, inadvertently sabotaged results for debaters Yasyf M and Calvin S by causing them to laugh… a lot… Zhi-Yao C and Jonathan H fortunately corrected this grievance by winning the junior team division.  Zhi- Yao also emerged as the top individual speaker. ( Fans of this news site will recall  last month’s reference to a groggy debater who was unceremoniously dragged from his bed one tournament morning to replace a teammate who could not participate. That debater was Zhi-Yao and his victory last Wednesday has banished any notion of grogginess. ) In the senior division, Shannon B, who magnanimously stepped in at the last minute, captured sixth place. Overall, it was a great day that ended with a well-appreciated dinner at Shawnigan.
