Brentwood Alumni (2006) Nicholas Chesterley, of Comox, BC, has been awarded a Clarendon Scholarship for a two year Master of Philosophy degree, a postgraduate research program, in economics. Prior to this, Nicholas received the Chancellor's Scholarship,a major admission award, to attend Queen's University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts.

“As you can imagine, I'm rather overwhelmed, and very pleased. The first year, I take the three core courses, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, and then in second year I take electives and write a master thesis.”

These Scholarships "are awarded to academically excellent students with the best proven and future potential. Clarendon Scholarships are highly competitive, with less than 10% of applicants selected for the scholarship. A distinguishing feature of Clarendon scholarships is that scholars are selected from the leaders in their field - that is, academic departments nominate whom they believe are the most deserving of their place at the University of Oxford based on their academic record and ability to contribute significantly to their field of study, both in the present and future. This feature ensures the best and brightest minds are selected as Clarendon scholars.”
