Brentwood garners local "Genie Award"
In his annual "Genie Awards" that celebrate excellence in all of the arts in the Cowichan Valley, arts critic Peter Rusland of the Cowichan NewsLeader/Pictorial has named Brentwood's 2008 musical theatre production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast the best High School show.
"The animated wonder of Disney's Beauty and the Beast sprung to life with magnificent aplomb. Director Edna Widenmaier's souped-up cast of 50 uses Sally Smith's lovely costumes to illustrate the star-crossed romance between Beauty (Amanda Douglas-Paskuski) and the grotesque Beast (Andrew Butler). Phil Newn's polished pit orchestra and Lorraine Blake's effective choreography complemented the show."
