Grade 9 students interested in the Advanced Placement Programme attended a DNA Analysis and Bioinformatics Lab at the UBC Laboratory at UBC Michael Smith Labs. This Lab provided the students with an “authentic research experience in the Advanced Molecular Biology Laboratories.” Students got a chance to “carry out a DNA isolation experiment and to use laptops to search the human genome and look at 3D protein structures”.

Brentwood’s versatile timetable allows qualified students at any grade level to take advantage of the many Advanced Placement options offered at our school.  Most of the science AP courses offered at Brentwood are taught over a two year period (Pre-AP and AP) to ensure thorough preparation for challenging the examinations. AP Examinations in North America give high school students opportunities to demonstrate college-level achievement.
