Brentwood Crews Win Big In Maple Bay

24 April 2014

It was a day spent tanning and racing. On Saturday, April 12, Brentwood competed in the annual Mable Bay Rowing Club Regatta. It was a wonderful warm day and although the wind picked up as the day went on, the water conditions were fairly good. The crews were all very successful and gained valuable experience for the upcoming Brentwood Regatta.  Brentwood earned an impressive six 1st place finishes, including Ellis H, Ellis House ’16, who won the Junior B Men’s single, the Junior B Men’s 8+, the Junior B Men’s 2X, which won by a massive 27 seconds, the Junior A Women’s single, the Junior B Men’s 4X+, and the Novice Men’s 2X. Brentwood also earned five 2nd place finishes and had many more great results. More important than the results was that all our athletes had a great time on and off the water. The Brentwood crews are hoping this is a sign of more good things to come. The regatta season is beginning to increase in intensity and some positive results early on are great for morale as the schedule becomes harsher. The crews will be looking to duplicate some of these great results later on in the season at events such as this weekend’s Brentwood International Regatta and the CSSRA’s in St. Catharines, Ontario in early June.
