Brentwood at the Olympics

The Olympic Games are but hours away and Canada is ready to go. The former Brentwood athletes are already in Beijing preparing for their respective competitions. Since the Olympic Games are taking place on the other side of the globe, Canadians will have to stay up late to watch the events live. The following schedule is being produced by CBC television. We all hope you are able to stay up and watch the competition live. If not, stay tuned to the Brentwood News and updates will be posted!
Connor Grimes (Class of 2001) and the Canadian field hockey team have a very tough road to get to the medal round. Their schedule (all times are Pacific) is: Monday August 11 at 3:00 am - Canada vs Australia, Wednesday August 13 at 3:00 am - Canada vs Pakistan, Thursday August 14 at 7:30 pm - Canada vs Netherlands, Saturday August 16 at 5:30 pm - Canada vs Great Britain, Tuesday August 19 at 3:00 am - Canada vs South Africa. For more information on the schedule go to http://www.cbc.ca/olympics/schedule/weekly/2008/08/14/field_hockey/ In rowing, Scott Frandsen (Class of 1998) and Dave Calder (Class of 1996) start the competition Saturday August 9 at 12:00 am. If they do not make the semi-finals directly, Dave and Scott will race in the Reps on Monday August 11 at 12:30 am. With a direct entry to the semi-finals, Scott and Dave will race Wednesday August 13 at 12:00 am. The finals for the pair will take place Friday August 15 at 11:00 pm.
Malcolm Howard (Class of 2001) rows with the the World Champion Canadian Men's eight. Their quest for gold starts with the heats on Saturday August 9 at 11:50 pm. If the crew do not make the semi-finals directly, they will race in the Reps on Tuesday August 12 at 1:00 am. The finals for the Men's eight will take place on Sunday August 17 at 12:30 am. This is an exciting time for Canada and we will be watching with much interest over here in the early hours of the morning as Canada goes for Gold!
