Last Friday, 21 students boarded a bus destined for Shawnigan Lake School where the 2nd Brentwood Hockey team played the SLS Rec team. This was the first regular season game for us with a bunch of our players making their first start for Brentwood.  The game was tight all the way until the end with close calls and fierce competition. Excellent goals by scored by Cooper H, Ellis ’19 & Dale F’ 21 with excellent goaltending by Thomas B, Ellis’ 18 & Ryan C, Whittall ’19. The first two periods were great as the score was tied at the end of the second period. With the players playing their hardest and close attempts by Haden U, Ellis’ 19, it was close and tight all the way to the buzzer but SLS escaped with a 4-2 win.  Coach McPherson observed that “The team showed grit and resilience in its first foray onto the ice as a team. With many skaters playing out of their regular position, this experience was a great way for both the coaches and the players to get an understanding of positional play and players’ abilities. We look forward to continued development and more opportunities for our players to develop their love of the game.”  The team next travels to Vancouver’s UBC’s Thunderbird Arena to play against St. George’s along with the senior team on Friday, Dec. 9.  Thomas B, Ellis ‘19
