This week, for the first time in their four-year history, the Bermuda Rowing Association has sent a team of athletes to an overseas regatta. Brentwood is honoured that they have chosen our event for their inaugural competition. The team of five female athletes and their coach arrived Monday and have spent the week training alongside the Brentwood flotilla.  Specialising in sculling, the girls will race in 4 quads as well as a JV double and Jr. A single. “We hope that this can be an annual trip,” said coach Giuliana Gonslaves, “We have been treated like royalty by the Brentwood rowers and coaches.” Thursday morning found the 5 Bermudian girls in front of a class of 60 Brentwood social studies students. The girls used a slide presentation to describe the history, culture, economy, climate and politics of their homeland. A lively discussion ensued. On Thursday afternoon a crowd of nearly forty, all with Bermuda-Brentwood links, met in the faculty lounge for a reception in honour of the Bermuda crew. We wish the girls every success this weekend as they make their international debut.
