BEATing BC Rivers Day

5 October 2014

On September 28, BC Rivers Day, a small yet dedicated group of BEAT volunteers trudged through heavy mud and thick undergrowth collecting litter from Wheelbarrow Creek – a small waterway located adjacent to our campus. From pipe fittings to pop cans, over six bags of refuse were collected and disposed of.  Following the arrival of several more volunteers after the cleanup, the group began sorting and bagging a large assortment of bottles and cans as part of a bottle drive. With some unsorted bottles still remaining, the volunteers finished off their day with two large bags of cans, countless boxes of meticulously categorized glass containers and a sense of accomplishment in knowing that their efforts had made an improvement in their community.
