BC First Peoples 12 is one of the many amazing courses Brentwood has to offer. It has earned its reputation as one of the most engaging and fun Social Studies 12 programs that can be taken as a senior student here at Brentwood. The class learns many things about Indegenious lifestyle, culture and more.

This class is taught by one of Brentwood’s most caring and compassionate teachers: Mrs Amiel. Since BCFP is a very discussion-based class, students in this course don't hesitate to speak up and express their viewpoints on the topics at hand. For example, the class is currently discussing the lobster fishing dispute happening in Nova Scotia. As many students tend to get extremely passionate about certain topics, it’s always good to have Mrs Amiel moderate the discussions so the environment is made comfortable for all students to speak up.

Indiana W, Alexandra ‘21 says, “BC First Peoples is currently one of my favorite courses as it isn't like any other course Brentwood offers. You don't just go to class, sit down and prepare for a test or start taking notes. Instead, we discuss and learn about things happening in and outside our community regarding First Nations people.” Tony E, Whittall ‘21 added, “Before the year starts every student goes through a course selection and when deciding what socials course to take, BCFP had the best feedback from previous students. Students who graduated and students who still attend Brentwood had only good things to say about the course, and so I decided to take it. The positive things said about the course were an understatement as this course has not only opened up my mind to new topics and ideas, but it has also educated me on the things happening in our current Canadian society.”

BCFP is an amazing course for any Brentwood student looking to take a Socials 12 course. It's a fun, engaging course that doesn’t ever urge you to pull out your phone or fake needing to go to the bathroom. And the course wouldn't be the same without an amazing leader, Mrs Amiel.
