BC AA Provincial Golf Championship

11 July 2019
Mr Jordan Warner, Coach
On June 3rd to 5th, the competitive golf team traveled up Island to Qualicum Beach, BC to participate in the BC AA Provincial Golf Championship. The 36 hole tournament was held at Pheasant Glen Golf Club amidst beautiful conditions. This marked the first time in a number of years that Brentwood's competitive golf team had qualified for the BC provincial golf tournament. Brentwood sent a team of 5 players to represent the school: Gavyn K '22, Lucas K '22, Sonny A '20 , Jamie T '20 , and Mathieu MacNeill '19. The lowest 4 individual scores of each round counted against the team total for each day. At the end of two days of golf, the team with the lowest overall score was named the BC provincial champion. Having gained entry into the provincial tournament as the lone wildcard on the strength of the team's performance at the AA Island tournament 10 days earlier, the members of the team played with a sense of calm and acquitted themselves well at the provincial level. The team shot 324 on Day 1 and bettered that result on Day 2 by shooting 322. Their two-day total of 646 placed them 6th overall in the 12-team AA field. Individual performances of note were Lucas K '22 whose 152 was the lowest two-day score amongst the Brentwood students, placing him in a tie for 12th overall lowest individual score amongst the 59 students participating. I would like to congratulate all members of our team on an excellent season that included many highlights such as the team's silver medal performance at the Victoria Police Tournament in early May. With four members of our competitive team able to return next year, the future for Brentwood's competitive golf team looks bright! A big thank you also goes out to the graduating members of our competitive team, Golf Captain Alex Culberson and Mathieu MacNeill. Mr Jordan Warner, Coach
