Brentwood Badminton, although often forgotten, has played and won their first tournament this year! On Wednesday, May 9, the group of eleven travelled to Duncan Christian School to play against Brookes, Chemainus, and Duncan Christian. Our whole team put their game faces on and played to win. Our team flawlessly defeated Duncan Christian School - our biggest competition. Thus far, our Badminton team has worked hard to improve their skills and have fun. Our coach, Mr DeSandoli, has helped us all appreciate the sport and strive to improve. In regards to our team’s improvements, Mr. DeSandoli noted, “the unexpected journey of positive attitudes, competition and fun. The team has players of all levels of skill and involvement.” I talked to one of our players, Callum P, Rogers ’20, and he remarked that “Badminton is much harder than it looks. There is a lot of strategy and it can be very tiring!”  Shayna M, Alexandra ’20 said, “There’s a lot of tough competition out there, and when I play I definitely break a sweat.”   If you want to come watch, there will be a tournament on Thursday, May 17 hosted at Brentwood - you might even want to get on the court yourself!
