Campus is thriving with frenzied excitement as eager students begin the 2018-19 school year here at Brentwood! Following an action-packed Orientation, students from all corners of the globe have boarded the Brentwood Express, and are going full speed ahead towards a busy, yet wonderful, tripartite year! Classes have commenced, and students are engaged in an innovative learning setting, as they learn and problem solve through collaborative projects and technology integration. Students have an extensive variety of elective academic courses to choose from which highlights Brentwood’s diverse and immersive learning opportunities. “Teachers do the most they can to ensure you can succeed. It’s amazing how much effort they put into our education,” says Tochukwu A, this year’s Assistant Head Prefect-Arts. Brentwood strives not only for excellence in the classroom, but on the field and court as well. “In 4 years, I have become a stronger player, but more importantly, a better person. The way that Brentwood’s athletics have developed my character is something that I will always be grateful for,” explained Jacob B, Assistant Head Prefect-Athletics.  Competitive seasons for multiple sports have already begun for some of our athletes at Brentwood. Our Senior 1st IX Field Hockey team has had a fantastic start to the season, bringing back a series of wins from the first tournament of the year, the Friendship Cup. Other competitive sports of first term include, but are not limited to, volleyball, rugby, and soccer. There is also a variety of non-competitive sports offered during first term, which provide opportunity for students to explore and develop in new sports, as well as give teams a chance to train during their off season.  While working studiously at academics, and pushing themselves with athletics, it is important to give students the chance to appreciate the arts. With over 30 different arts to choose from - whether you prefer visual or performing or technical or communication - both new and returning students are given incredible opportunities to explore and experience a variety of ways to express themselves artistically. This year’s Assistant Head Prefect of the Arts, Maria R says that “the program is unique because each individual can approach the classes in their own way. They can create art in their style with their own ideas. If you walk into any arts classroom, you will see that each student is determined to work hard at something they are passionate about”. Ultimately, Brentwood’s diverse program builds a strong community, as students come together while discovering their passions and strengths. Lulu J, the Head Prefect, says her favourite thing about Brentwood is “the supportive staff and faculty as well as the sense of community that is present. I can be myself all the time.” Zjaya D, Allard ‘19
