Before the students left for Spring Break, our Senior Boys’ Basketball team capped of an historic season by capturing a Silver medal at the AA Provincial Championship in Kamloops, BC. This is the best finish ever for the Brentwood boys and a wonderful way to cap off a fantastic season that included Gold at the Island Championship and Silver medals at both the ISA championship and the Brentwood College “Countdown to Playoffs” tournament. The school is very proud of their accomplishments this season.
With Spring Break a quiet descended on campus with our students away and some of our teams on tour; however, it was really just a calm before the upcoming athletic storm with competitive tennis, rugby, rowing and girls’ soccer all getting underway in third term. This weekend begins a busy season of competition.
Without question, the highlight in April will be the 43rd Annual Brentwood Regatta running April 26-28. While this regatta is one of the largest and most highly regarded high school regattas in North America, it has become much more than just a series of 170 highly competitive rowing races. With almost 4,000 visitors to Brentwood’s campus, the entire school will work all weekend to ensure these visitors have a first class experience.
Entrepreneurship classes will be running their ventures, our musicians will be displaying their talent on stage, visual artists will exhibit their works and many of our buildings will be converted to dormitories and our fields turned into parking lots. The dining hall and facilities staff will be working overtime and each and every student and teacher will have a set of tasks to complete, but the end project is always well worth the work and the festival atmosphere is one that all will certainly enjoy. Amidst all of the hustle and bustle will be some 1,800 rowers competing on the water. It promises to be another amazing weekend for Brentwood – good luck to all our rowers and coaches!
