Athletics Review 1
Welcome back Brentwood family and friends! We are looking forward to another active and exciting year in Brentwood Athletics. It has been a busy start to the year and our students appear eager to engage in their sports. The weather has been beautiful and the fields, gym, weight-rooms, tennis courts and waterfront are alive with activity. While there are a variety of athletic options, we strongly encourage everyone to try and engage in team sports: there is no better way to get to know your peers than to work with them in practice and then compete together in games. These shared experiences bring our students that much closer together and create memories that last a lifetime. In our first term, it is the competitive season for:
Grade 8 & 9 Boys Rugby
Junior Boys Soccer
Senior Boys Soccer
Senior Girls Volleyball
Junior Girls Volleyball
Senior Girls Field Hockey
Junior Girls Field Hockey
Cross Country Running
Our kids love playing on these teams; the coaching they receive is first rate and it all starts with the underlying belief that kids need to have fun in their athletics. Our first few weekends of action was highlighted by our field hockey teams competing in the 2017 Friendship Cup and the Junior ISAs where we placed 5th and our Senior Girls Volleyball team competing at the VIU Invitational and the Brentwood Classic. In soccer, our Senior Boys earned silver at the Independent Schools Association (ISA) Championship and our Junior Boys captured gold as we hosted the ISAs. Meanwhile, the Grade 8 & 9 Rugby Boys have been busy with scrimmages vs Shawnigan, St. Michael’s and St. George’s. We look forward to lots more action in our final month of the fall season.
