Athletic Therapy

One of the many things I have learned at Brentwood College School: don’t jump on uneven ground or you may end up with a lower body injury. If this happens to you and you end up with a broken ankle as I did, you will probably get placed in the sports rehab program.

That’s what happened to me after working out in the gymnasium. On my way back to my house, my roommate and I were listening to music and I jumped and accidently landed with my foot in the wrong spot.

Unfortunately, the accident happened just a few weeks after school started. Up until then, I was participating in rowing, dancing and field hockey. Sport is freeing for me, but sadly I couldn’t keep on doing these sports anymore. But I could focus on preparing to rejoin them and to have a strong restart after healing.

So when the next sport’s day rolls around and you are injured or have to establish your muscles again after an injury, this is your chance. You will probably visit the Rehab Centre in the Foote Athletic Center.

There, individualized programs are designed by the terrific coaches Ms Tanya Scheck and Ms Laurel Calhoun. The program is unique to you. When you have any questions they are both willing to help you at any time.

“It’s a very dynamic group that involves all personalities coming together for one common goal of recovery.” This was the appreciative description by Ms Scheck, when I asked her to reflect this program in one sentence.

The best idea, of course, is to stay well. So keep my hint in mind: do me a favour and don’t jump right next to a rough part of one of the most beautiful campuses I’ve ever seen.

Enjoy!
