Spring has arrived and the Brentwood fields, courts, and waterfront have been flooded with sunshine and a full array of sports action.

On the fields, our boys and girls rugby teams are rounding into form and getting ready to gear up for the provincial championships next month.

Our junior and senior girls’ soccer teams have had some excellent results (Mid-Island Champions and ISA Bronze for the juniors) and will start their playoff battles this week.

On the courts, our girls’ tennis team defended its ISA title for the 5th consecutive year (hosted again by Brentwood) and is poised for another excellent run at provincials. The boys earned Bronze.

On the water, our rowers represented Brentwood in fine form at last week’s 43rd Annual Brentwood International Regatta.  The event was a spectacular showcase for our school and a real tribute to the organizational skills of our Head of Rowing, Mrs. Debbie Sage. The boys Varsity 8+ also won their event at Opening Day while the Varsity girls placed second.

While our competitive teams are fun to watch, our other programs are equally vibrant and engaging. Outdoor Pursuits has provided our students with amazing opportunities as they have immersed themselves in rock climbing and white water kayaking.

Other students have been enjoying an eclectic mix of cross-country running, badminton, cross-training, squash, hip hop dance and weight lifting. The third term is, without question, our busiest athletic time of the year, but the blue skies and sunshine seem to create boundless energy and joy in our students. Any visitor to our school on a sports day is sure to be delighted by the activity and enthusiasm that pervades our campus – please consider yourself warmly invited!
