Another Spike to Victory
On October 18, 2022, Brentwood’s Varsity Volleyball team bumped, set, and spiked their way to another victory. From their successful season thus far, the team continues on their winning streak.
Year after year, Showcase Volleyball proves itself to be one of Brentwood’s most memorable events where the student body is given the opportunity to show off their Brentwood pride. Stepping into the gym that evening, it was hard not to get fired up in the sweat and hunger for victory that enveloped every spectator. For every showcase event it seems as though the entire student body makes it their goal to lose their voice by the end of the night - and this one was no exception.
Complete with a fog machine, party lights, and Miranda NP as their announcer, the team’s exit from the changeroom and entrance onto the battlefield was “nothing short of electrifying” described Head Prefect Tommy M, Privett ‘23.
Feeding off of the energy from the crowd, the team took a quick lead winning their first set and shortly thereafter bringing home the win with their second. As Jensa NG, Mack ‘23 says, “Shawnigan Lake may have brought their deer, but nothing tops Dylan G’s booming voice and chef Jagre K’s battering ram of a frying pan”.
Despite Shawnigan’s best efforts, they were no match for Sophie H’s slamdunk spikes and KayKay A’s menacing blocks. Congratulations, girls, on yet another win, and thank you to everyone in the crowd and behind the scene who made this event another one for the books.
