Every year I look forward to Thanksgiving dinner. The lovely, cheerful atmosphere and the importance of the evening make the gathering such a bright event. Similarly, the kitchen staff does an amazing job of preparing the best meals we could ask for. Every year, the halls are filled with the savory scent of turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin spice.

The familiar scent of Thanksgiving dinner is amplified tenfold in Crooks Hall, met with exclamations of joy from students. Nazar Son said “It was awesome. I liked the cranberry sauce and the little cabbage-looking things”, referring to the brussel sprouts.

In addition to the food, a number of students performed musical acts, a wonderful addition to the ambiance during dinner. These were performed by Robin C, Indiana W, Tiyasha S, and Julian W. Chris S, a Privett senior, also performed “Yellow” by Coldplay, impressing the rest of the Privett boys with his beautiful vibrato.

Unfortunately, a number of students were unable to attend the dinner, as the school is mitigating the spreading of any sickness, including the normal colds we get during this season. According to our sources, the food that was brought back to their dorms from the breathtaking dinner was just as good as the food from previous years. I believe this is an indication of the time and care put into these meals and reminds us of how important the food services staff is to student life.

Hopefully, next year we’ll have an even better dinner; they’ve gotten better every year, and that’s impressive considering the food is already extraordinary. It’s impressive that the dinner went as smoothly as it did this year, given the current health risks, but it definitely gave us a positive parting gift before our break. I am pretty sure I’m still digesting it.
