An Eggsquisite In-House Breakfast

6 February 2019

Saturday’s are always a busy time in the houses: we head off to breakfast, come back to hurriedly #1 our rooms, and then get dressed in our number #1s for classes. On some very special weekends, however, we are able to break the pattern and take extra time to bond and kick back. This past Saturday some Hope 11s organized a wonderful in-house breakfast: we were excused from #1s and, since it landed on a Spirit Day, we didn’t even have to wear uniforms!  Girls sign up for jobs like delivery, cooking, tidying up, and everyone plays their part. “My favorite part was bonding with everyone who helped,” said Lily F, one of our Grade 11s. “Some people even told me it was one of the best we’ve had!” There is truly something special about in-house breakfasts. If everything is done correctly there is a chance for everyone to stuff themselves and learn new cooking skills.  For our breakfast the girls ordered bacon, sausages, cinnamon buns, waffles, eggs, juice, whipped cream, strawberries, and watermelon. The cafeteria will assemble the food and then girls in the house will do the rest of the preparing.  From someone who had the chance to dig in, I can say that it was a true treat and I am very grateful that we have so many kind and eager helpers! Thanks again to everyone who was there and an extra big thank you to our wonderful kitchen staff.  Phoebe H, Hope ‘19
