An Advertising Opportunity

I have big news for you: on April 27th, 2018 Brentwood College School will host one of the biggest school events in Canada: the Brentwood Regatta. This is three days of adrenalin and emotions. Over 2000 rowers, parents, and children are coming to see the rowing races. For this big day the marketing class is working on something huge.  Our Marketing 11 class has to find local shops and stores that are interested in advertising at the Regatta. Sounds easy, but it's really not. As one of my classmates said, “It's a good way for Brentwood students to talk to the local business owners because it opens new doors.” In teams of 4-5 people we have to get the phone numbers of the stores, then we have to make phone calls and try to make the companies interested in advertising in the Regatta magazine. If they are interested, an email package is sent to them giving them information on the different advertising options that would be offered during the Regatta, running all weekend. Advertisements in the magazine are especially beneficial because it reaches out to the local community and has a personal touch.  In total the Marketing 11 class has raised over $7,000  which was under the goal but still a great achievement. The ads end up either going into the brochure or they can purchase online ads. The majority of the buyers were small local businesses and some other big commercial businesses in Mill Bay.
