Although Sunday is known as a day for rest here in Mill Bay, the Grade 12s at Brentwood got something even better with their leadership workshop and outing last weekend. The events started at 11am on Mr. Patel’s lawn, where everyone found their group and got familiar before proceeding to the stations. The level of enjoyment was high, and there were a couple of crowd favourites including blanket volleyball, charades, and the three-legged obstacle course. The good weather brought out smiles and friendly competition, an encouraging start to a great day. After the activities were finished, the entire grad class piled onto the bus, and after a forty-five minutes driving to Ladysmith, arrived at McNab’s Farm. At the farm we were treated to a range of different activities: there were baby pigs to befriend, chickens to feed, and a hay truck tour to be made of the farm. The obvious attraction, however, was the corn maze; an eight foot tall maze that was seemingly endless and had countless dead ends. The maze was an exhausting adventure but worth it when we emerged from the labyrinth to a bonfire with hot dogs ready to be cooked, as well as some pumpkin cookies and warm apple cider. The bus ride back to Brentwood was filled with an exhausted but satisfied Grade 12 class falling asleep on each other’s shoulders. It was a great day that set high expectations for the rest of the year. Thanks go out to Kyara A, Olivia B, and Nurse Jasmine for organizing such a fulfilling day. Keiran MH, Rogers ‘17
