Almost A Cappella, Totally Great!

Brentwood’s choral quintet, led by Music Director Phil Newns, Almost A Cappella, won the Adjudicators Choice Award (and $100) for the Victoria Choral Festival. The adjudicator enthused, "I wish 100s of people had heard and seen them perform. It was fantastic to witness this kind of independence and musicianship." Over the years, this ensemble has established a reputation for artistic excellence and fun-filled shows, regularly receiving invitations to Canadian National Festivals. Their repertoire consists of multiple genres including Jazz, R&B and Pop, arranged in 3-5 part harmony. Much of the singing is improvised, and ear training is a high priority in this ensemble, as well as a passion for performing.  The team of Grade 10s, Leah A, Janessa P, Didi O, Desola O & Hayley J have been invited to perform at the Choral Highlights Concert at the First Met, Balmoral Road and Quadra in Victoria at 7 p.m. this Thursday the 19th of April. This event will feature the top choirs from the Greater Victoria area and beyond.
