Allard Little-Big Sister Olympics

This past week, Allard Grade 11s took the reigns on Little-Big Sisters, and planned our very own Allard Olympics. This event allowed for the Allard mermaids to bond with each other through fun and competitive games on the field. Each floor teamed up to compete against each other, the winner of each game helping to determine the best floor in Allard. The games started off with some piggy back races, in which roommates paired up to race to the finish line, and then consisted of crab walk races, frog jump races, and a donut-eating contest. The final game was a water balloon toss, and winners were very close, but the ultimate “best floor” was second floor, defeating first and third, and winning two whole boxes of donuts. Grade 12 Allard boarder Sumin K says that “I am very proud of the 11s for planning this event, and it was a great way for the house, and each floor, to bond and spend one last Little-Big Sisters event together, especially with the weather being so nice outside.”  This event helped give the Grade 12 prefects an idea of the leaders whom we are passing down the torch to. These girls have already shown their leadership skills and proved how devoted they are to making the school and Allard a fun and joyful place next year, and as Mrs Carr and Allard Grade 12s prepare to bid the house adieu, we can trust in the legacy these girls will carry with them next year and for years to come. One of the key aspects of being in Allard is our sense of home and sisterhood, so as we near to the end of the year, being able to say goodbye to our fellow Allard mermaids, and to the Brentwood campus, is not supposed to be sad, but rather celebrated together as a family. Being able to spend our last few weeks together, enjoying the sun, eating good food, and swimming at the waterfront helps make the stress and bustle of school fade away for a bit, as we enjoy these last few moments together as a house, and create memories that will stick with our Allard family forever.
