Although this year’s event had a little bit of a twist, last Friday night featured the annual Alex House fashion show. It even featured refreshments and desserts after the runway show. In the past, the fashion show, organized by the Grade 11s for the Grade 12s, was a time for the younger girls to see the dresses the Grade 12s wore to the May long weekend Graduation in Vancouver. This year, however, because the Grad Dinner and Dance is in Victoria after Closing Day, we 12s weren’t keen to wear our grad dresses a month early.  Luckily, the Grade 11s were quick on their feet and designed a new idea for the show: roommates. There were three themes for the roommate catwalk: beach day, pjs, and night out. Anxiously awaiting our names to be called from behind the curtain, we 12s didn’t know what to expect. We were all excited to see what would happen. Soon our names were called in pairs and we paraded down the runway like professionals. We had two breaks from the runway where Rebecca M & Aidan M performed. They both sang beautifully and they were so much fun to watch (go girls!) After the main events had concluded, we all crowded around the back half of the old cafeteria where there were photo booths and tables of treats. The fashion show was a huge success. Thanks to the Grade 11s who worked hard to make sure it was a perfect, unforgettable night. It’s hard to believe that my time at Brentwood and as an Alex House girl are almost done but I rest assuredly in saying that nights like this are the type of house events that make it so hard to say goodbye.
