Advanced Rock Band

Advanced Rock Band is a fine art primarily reserved for senior students who have experience with their instruments. Any instrument can be utilized in the band, but since the focus is rock, guitars, basses, keyboards and drums are favoured. Over the course of the year, the band will learn and practice rock music from the 60’s to the present day. These songs will be played at multiple performances throughout the year.  Currently, the Advanced Rock Band is paying tribute to recently passed musicians, Tom Petty & Gord Downie, by learning Runnin’ Down a Dream by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Little Bones by the Tragically Hip. Alongside those songs, the band is attempting the classic instrumental song Cissy Strut by The Meters. Instead of vocals, this song features many solos, not only for guitars, but drums and bass as well.  In preparation for our Regatta stage performance, the band will amass a portfolio of between 7 and 9 numbers.
