Academic Counsel from the Academic Council

4 October 2013
Liam K
With the new school year comes the creation of the Academic Council. Consisting, so far, of eight representative students and led by Mr. David McCarthy, Director of Academics, its purpose is to manage student academic initiatives and to discuss issues or interests for the School’s Leadership Team and SEC. While the council shares the responsibility of peer tutoring with this year’s interns, it has many ideas of its own that will be explored as the year unfolds. Kirsten M, Alex ‘14 will lead the tutors as they offer group-work opportunities and student-tutor-teacher accountability. Any member has the opportunity to pursue projects for the council, and several initiatives have been taken already. Adil N, Rogers ‘14 is developing an application for students who want to start an extracurricular club. To help students stay on track with their peers, Carolyn B, Alex ‘14 is discussing test standardization within the departments while Pascale B, Mackenzie ‘14 is gathering information on study and classroom habits to determine what skills should be a developmental focus for the junior school. We look forward to sharing the growth and results of the council as the school year progresses. Liam K, Ellis ’14 Assistant Head Prefect, Academics
