Abu Dhabi Hosts Mr. Zenker

3 December 2010
In late November, Mr. Tim Zenker, Brentwood’s U.S. University counselor, journeyed to Abu Dhabi as the guest of New York University. He was among the first group of college advisors invited to visit NYU’s new portal campus in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.). Joining colleagues from some of the most prestigious high schools in the world, Mr. Zenker met with the inaugural class of NYU-AD, as well as with 50 of this year’s candidates who were visiting the campus.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, has a vision of creating the World’s Honours College to join branches of the Louvre and Guggenheim museums in developing Abu Dhabi as a world cultural centre. NYU Abu Dhabi will be one of two portals to the NYU Global Network University, which includes branches in Accra, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Florence, London, Madrid, New York, Paris, Prague, Shanghai, and Tel Aviv.

The first class of 150 students represents 39 nations. Undergraduates may spend two January terms, three summers, and up to two semesters studying at campuses of the NYU Global Network University. Upon graduation, they may also receive special consideration applying to NYU’s graduate programs.

Head Prefect Dan H (Brentwood 2011) is currently applying to NYU-AD, as well as other world famous institutions including Harvard, Oxford and Sciences Po. Our Admissions team also periodically travels to the UAE and to Saudi Arabia. Director of Admissions, Mr. Clayton Johnston, hopes to be there next fall.
