Within the blizzard of activity that ends the first third of the school year, Brentwood’s talented musicians and performers took to the stage to present the Concert For A Winter’s Eve. Senior students got the first showing of the concert on Thursday, December 10th, followed by the juniors on Friday.  Act One began with a beautiful, seamless dance to the song “Lionheart” by this year's graduates on the dance team. Then the string ensemble performed some impressive pieces followed by Holly CH, Mackenzie ‘17 blowing the audience away with her extraordinary vocal range.  The following acts then showcased their musical talents through solo pieces: Oliver W, Privett ‘18 with the cello, Jaclyn C, Alex ‘16 singing a spunky rock song, Raeanna W, Mackenzie ‘17 on the piano, and a hilarious duet by Liam S, Rogers ‘17 & Andrew W, Whittall ‘17 fighting over ‘The Girl is Mine’. The men’s choir then left all the females fanning themselves, while Katherine B’s, Hope ‘17 voice gave the audience shivers, and the A Cappella group and Advanced Rock Band finished off the set.  After a brief intermission where students and staff donated non-perishable foods and useful items to the local food shelter, the theater was once again filled and the second act commenced. The Wind, Jazz, and Guitar Ensembles opened Act Two then Hannah R, Mackenzie ‘18 & Sarah R, Hope ’17 sang a beautiful duet followed by the Advanced Rock Band.  The leads of this year's musical then took to the stage, showing the audience exactly why they were the leads with a stunning duet of “Baby it’s Cold Outside” and Antonio C, Rogers ‘17 swept the audience away with his beautiful guitar piece while Ethan B, Ellis ‘16 & Peter E, Ellis ‘16 wrapped up the show.  The concert was a huge success with many returning students commenting on how this is an event they look forward to every year, and new students (or not so new now) saying how impressed they were with the school's strength in performing arts.  A profound thanks to all the performers, stage crew, and organisers for putting on such a fantastic event.
