Just before our spectacular spring break, the students who are studying the History section of Socials 11 spent close to a month participating in the terrific Tin Project.   The Tin Project was an arts/history collaboration that started with the students making their own war tin that would have labeling and rust as if it were straight out of the trenches of World War 1. After successfully creating this authentic looking tin, the students had to brainstorm what items would have been locked in these time capsules. Not only did they have to do some treasure hunting, they also had to create a story that would tie all the items together.  Some very elaborate and heart-wrenching stories such as forbidden love and the brutalities of the war were crafted from this project and it was highly praised by the students. The Socials Studies faculty have high hopes that it will carry on annually: some of the products were so extravagant that they will be showcased in an upcoming assembly. Good job Grade 11 history students for your marvellous work! Danielle D, Mack’ 15
