Lights, camera, act! Every year, Brentwood’s most talented actors in grades 11 and 12 put on a play in the spring for the school and larger community to enjoy. This year, director Mr Interlandi and the Senior Play Captains Nina B and Sophia PT, Alex ‘22, chose Puffs as the play. Puffs is a spin-off of the Harry Potter novels and tells the heartwarming story of a group of underdogs, the Puffs, who were never destined to save the world. It is a tale about friendship, loyalty, and self-expression and has generated a lot of enthusiasm on campus. The cast is composed of 19 people, all with different acting backgrounds, from people with TV appearances, to musical leads, to those just starting their acting journey. One thing that remains constant throughout the cast, however, is the enthusiasm. “Senior play is more than an art, it’s a community of loving individuals. The kind you want to spend time with,” says Eamon R, Privett ‘22, who is playing one of the leading roles this year.

Meeting every arts afternoon in fourth block, the actors have recently started on-stage rehearsals to get familiar with blocking and to work with the theatre production students, who will be in charge of everything behind the scenes of this effect-heavy show including lighting, props, and mics. The cast has already begun working with some props like brooms and wands that really help to bring this imaginative and intricate world to life.

There is certainly a lot of work to be done before the first performances, but spirits are high in the Killy Theatre. Grace D, Alex ‘22 attests to the morale: “The cast this year is so welcoming and encouraging. I can’t wait for everyone to see this play.”

Make sure to mark your calendars for April 20, 21, and 22 to see this amazing show!
