A Great Debate

Monday, October 15, 2007 - By: Rebecca Reynolds

This past Saturday, Brentwood debaters talked themselves into some remarkable results at the St. Michaels University School tournament, the first competition of the year. Arguing well on both sides of the resolution—“the homeless problem is solvable”—Amy Higgins, Caroline McLean, Derek Kozel, and Sammy Hull finished among the top 10 seniors, individually, while Nick Raffin swept the junior division. Amy Higgins and Sammy Hull also placed second in the senior parliamentary division. In the first tournament of their careers, Parker Rawlinson and Stacey Kosteckyj had a tremendous day, finishing fifth in a field of 16 teams. Full results of the tournament are available from the debate coaches.
