A Good Deed a Day Allows for Kindness to Stay

Each year, as our way of giving back to the community, as well as a way of expressing our gratitude for the privileged lives we members of the Brentwood community are able to live, Brentwood hosts its own Charity Work Day. CWD is an annual event in which Brentwood students, staff, and teachers get split into different groups, travelling locally to offer a helping hand to those who may be searching for one.  This year, Brentwood students were split into approximately 50 different groups, and on April 7, we hit the road! Buses transported students to multiple different places, from houses to churches, with some groups even staying on campus to help out with facilities. We had an early rise, with some groups departing as early as 8:00 am, and the buses set off, with students, staff members, and teachers ready to rake leaves, paint, clean: ready to do whatever they could to positively contribute to the community.  The event typically lasts until mid-afternoon, and by noon, those participating in Charity Work Day were ready for a well-deserved break. One home, I know even baked fresh cookies to fuel the Brentwood volunteers. The Brentwood community spent the entire morning, as well as some hours of the afternoon, performing tasks that, although they may appear miniscule on the surface, prove to be of great help to the generous donors who requested assistance. The fatigue experienced after the day of work was a small price to pay for the hours put in, and it truly felt heart warming to see the grins on the faces of the people who had called for a helping hand. Needless to say, we got the job done, and by the end of the day, the students returned back to campus ready to fill their stomachs with some delicious pizza! As always, no Brentwood event would be made possible without the leadership of our dedicated staff. A special thanks goes out to Mr. Felix, Ms Ross and Ms Kulczycki for once again organizing such an amazing event, as well as providing the entire Brentwood body with the gift of giving!
