On Wednesday night, the Senior Play’s production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream opened, with a 60s twist.  The audience filed in with the expectations of a classic Shakespearean performance. Within the first act they were proved wrong. Peals of laughter rang through the auditorium as the cast put on their first spectacular performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream set in the colorful era of the 1960s. The show tells the story of two intertwined tales. The first is a love triangle between two sets of lovers, and the second is the magical world of the Fairy Queen Titania played by Rachel M, Hope ‘15 and her husband, the King of the Fairies, Bilal S, Rodgers ‘15. A fairy queen falling in love with a man-turned-donkey is the least you can expect from this comedic production. The cast gave the audience everything they could have wanted in a play. There was romance and action, humor and trickery. We saw kisses shared between Lysander (Graydon C Privett ’15) and Hermia (Andrea A, Alex ’15), a bit of puckish mischief from Puck performed by Robbie S, Privett ’15, as well as a hilarious ‘play within a play’ led by Fisher W, Privett ‘15 (our favourite Bottom) and Dan H, Privett ‘16. There’s plenty to enjoy in this comedic must-see. Tickets are still available for shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at the Bunch Centre. See you there for a 7:30 curtain!
