Although Brentwood was not able to host the annual regatta for the second year in a row, the school was still able to create a fun event for the Brentwood community. The first annual Spring Fair allowed both students and staff the unique opportunity to experience a weekend of fun activities in the midst of a busy 2020-21 school year.

The fair allowed us students to take part in some fun activities like capture the flag, cornhole, food eating/water drinking contests, a three point shooting basketball challenge, and outdoor volleyball. Live music also became a large part of the weekend as students and staff showed off their musical talents on Friday evening and Saturday.

Another huge part of the school’s first annual Spring Fair were the student-run food booths from those enrolled in the Entrepreneurship 12 course. These booths are often a huge part of Brentwood’s annual Rowing Regatta and it was great to see all of them heavily involved with making the fair a success.

Among these stands were Abou Shawarma, Bud’s Burgers, Bagel Bros, Cheeseria, Churro Burro, Donutiness, Hey Boba, Poncho Nacho, Rockin Roasters, The Joint Tacos, and The Smoke Shack.

Member of SAC and of The Joint Tacos, Santiago EF, Whittall ‘22 sums up the Spring fair as “an awesome and eventful weekend filled with all sorts of fun events and competitions”. Head Prefect Jack NG, Ellis ‘21 thought the fair was “a super fun experience and I'm so glad that we, as a school, were able to put it on”.

Every member of the Brentwood community thoroughly enjoyed this year's fair and hope that the event will take place once again next year along with the more traditional and familiar Brentwood International Rowing Regatta. I personally think that hosting the Spring Fair and Regatta on the same weekend for years to come would create an even greater atmosphere than past years and it would also give rowers from different schools and clubs a chance to experience some Brentwood joy!
