A Classic Brentwood Victory

19 October 2015

We got off to a great start at the Brentwood Classic Friday afternoon with wins against Duncan Christian, Lambrick Park, and Ballenas School, placing us first in our pool. Saturday morning saw us up against Woodlands School who won the other pool on Friday. The game was intense with Woodlands winning the first set and us the second, and in the third set we lost 15–13. We were not too disappointed, however, as we knew that as long as we won our next game we would make it to the finals. This meant playing Belmont to fight for our spot in the Gold medal game. Beating Belmont 2-0 renewed our spirits and we were feeling confident about playing Woodlands in the final. Woodlands gave us a run for our money – we had to fight for every point! Switching sides for the second game, we were focused and determined to bring home the title in two games. Co-Captain Lauren Y, Mack ’16 served us home for the final game point with April B, Hope ’16 making the last block.   For the first time since 2010, we now have the honour of keeping the Brentwood Classic trophy at home. Thanks Coach Jill and Coach Mike for organizing the tournament, and thanks to everyone who came out to support! The team enjoyed sleeping in our own beds, having home advantage, and playing in front of our peers! Up next is the ISA Tournament at Crofton House in Vancouver over Halloween weekend!
