Training never ends when you are a varsity rower. For some of the top Brentwood rowers, the first five days of Spring Break were spent at Shawnigan Lake getting time to train and focus on improving. Some of the same athletes also spent the last five days of break at Quamichan Lake training in small boats in preparation for the Dueling Over a Grand Regatta the following weekend. This was a busy weekend for the school considering it was Charity Work Day, RBC National training finals for certain athletes, and Dueling Over a Grand Regatta for many others.  Five athletes, Oliver W, Privett ‘18, Liam C, Rogers ‘18, Bennett L, Privett ‘18, Axel E, Rogers ‘19 and Zoe M, Hope ‘19 were all invited to RBC Training Grounds in Vancouver in order to help find Canada’s next Olympians. After vigorous challenges to prove their speed and strength, these rowers took the ferry back to the Island to race at the regatta the following day. After many back-to-back 1000m sprints Brentwood won the Jr A Mens 2x & Jr A Mens 4x while Allulah BC, Alex ‘19 came 3rd in the Jr A Woman’s 1x. In both the Jr A Mens 2x & Jr A Mens 4x, Brentwood’s JV boats came second. Many other Brentwood crews were entered in the Junior B category and these grade 9 and 10 rowers learned many valuable lessons.  The Boathouse continues its preparations for our big Showcase event, the 47th Brentwood International Regatta, April 27-29.
