A Beautiful Game on A Beautiful Day

Under sunny skies, atop a manicured emerald green pitch, the Junior Girls Soccer team opened their season with a 3-0 victory over Shawnigan yesterday. Buoyed by an appreciative crowd of students, staff, and staff children, the girls put their best feet forward. Although our team dominated possession early on, they were unable to crack a determined SLS defence and relied on goalkeeper Rico X to make a spectacular break-away save against a counter attack to keep the game nil-nil until Emma S forged a 1-0 lead going into the half. The first half was an exciting back and forth match up. Both teams attempted to play out from the back and also saw lots of action in the final 3rd. After the break our goal scorers heated up with Ella S, & Tansey S finding the back of the net while Jocelyn L dominated the midfield and Jensa NG assisted on the second and third goals. The Senior Girls Soccer team opens its season against Cowichan High at the Duncan Sportsplex on Thursday, April 4 at 3:00 while the Junior girls next play on Thursday April 11 at Kelsey at 3:30.
