We’ve Got Spirit, Yes We Do
With December Break now a distant memory, and the shortes term of school in full swing, the Brentwood campus has been surprisingly full of fun with students walking around proudly sporting red and black. This is all due to Brentwood’s first ever Spirit Week hosted by the SAC (Student Activity Council).
Spirit week kicked off with a girls’ basketball tournament that lasted Friday to Saturday, where yours truly controlled the incredibly difficult clock. Fans filled the stands and cheered on our girls’ team. The girls placed fourth in the tournament, losing their final game in a nail-biter that had fans sitting on the edge of their seats. Saturday was also Red/Black day when students were allowed to go to class sporting Brentwood colors.
Monday the 18th was Crazy Hair Day with hair ranging from a messy bun to true dedication with a shaved and dyed blue mohawk - well done Jacob N.
The Spring Break trips to Swaziland and Peru then held a foot-long hot dog sale and made impressive revenue that will go towards these service trips. Tuesday was a day full of laughter as the interhouse competition Theater Sports was held in the cafeteria.
Tonight was Dinner with the Danes, showcasing delicious Danish deserts (of which I had many), potatoes, finger sandwiches, and a pumpkin smoothie that was described as “Weird but in a good way”.
With three days left of Spirit Week we’re bound to experience even more fun, excitement and laughter. Tomorrow is Dress Like a Twin Day, and then there’s the Junior Boys Basketball tournament, Jersey Day, a tailgate party, a Brentwood cheer competition, and Showcase Hockey vs. St. George’s on Saturday night. Brentwood is going to be filled with enough spirit to carry us through the term!
A special thank you goes out to the SAC for coming up with and organizing this great week. It has been a definite success.
